Al “Dente” Dunn, a pianist, MD, and arranger, holds these roles within the popular London sextet known as the Cosimo Matassa Project. This musical ensemble draws inspiration from the countless joyous recordings that emanated from the famous J&M Studios of New Orleans during the late ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s.

His exceptional playing style is influenced by renowned musicians like Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, Dr. John, Huey “Piano” Smith, Tuts Washington, Professor Longhair, and, of course, the great Jelly Roll Morton.

Demonstrating a monster groove and impressive technique, his performances beautifully evoke the vibrant atmosphere of a New Orleans speakeasy, complete with stomping piano and jubilant Mardi Gras songs.

In addition to his contributions to the Cosimo Matassa Project, Al “Dente” Dunn has been a longtime keyboardist for Sir Bob Geldof, and more recently, he has been involved with The Boomtown Rats.
