CANAL-SIDE LOUISIANA PUB IN ISLINGTON

Live Music

There’s something in the air round here – part horn section, part hot sauce. Every weekend, our Louisiana pub in Islington lets loose with live music that swings, struts, and gets as brassy as a a backstreet party in the Ninth Ward.

From Zydeco to swampy blues to foot-stomping funk, we keep the spirit of the South rolling long into the night. If you’re looking for live music in Islington that feels more Bourbon Street than Upper Street – welcome!

The full line-up changes faster than a fiddler’s elbow – check out this week’s Live Music Listings for what’s on.

Private Dining

There’s an edge to the best parties. Well planned, but where the good times roll.

Private dining at Plaquemine Lock usually starts with a cocktail, then builds with communal oyster shucking, and finishes with Mardi Gras beads flying.

You bring the people. We’ll handle everything else.

Brunch

It starts at 11am with a Bloody Mary and, ideally, nowhere urgent to be. Our brunch is built for long, easy weekends by the canal, with fried chicken and pancakes, fresh baked cornbread, and pain perdu with brandy and pecans doing a very fine job of slowing the day down.

There are eggs where they should be, including Eggs Sardou with artichoke, spinach, cornbread and hollandaise, plus shrimp and okra gumbo if you want something with a little more depth and swagger. Strong coffee keeps things steady, hot sauce keeps things interesting, and the whole menu has no interest in being delicate.

Welcome to a brunch that does things differently. Louisiana cooking, served in an Islington pub by the water, with proper flavour, a relaxed atmosphere, and every reason to turn up hungry.
