Celebrate 4th of July in London at Plaquemine Lock in Islington

4th July in London
There’s something brilliantly cheeky about celebrating the 4th of July in London – and that’s exactly why we love it. At Plaquemine Lock, we’re throwing a canalside Independence Day party with all the trimmings: bold Southern flavours, Louisiana spirit, and live music that struts straight from the swamp.
Whether you’re American, British, or just bourbon-curious, you’re welcome to join us. Entry is free, and we’re open all evening with grilled oysters, crawfish by the pile, cold beer, and proper good company.
Looking for where to celebrate the 4th July in London? Our canal-side pub in Angel is bringing the party – with flavour, music and a few jokes at our own expense.
Live Music from Bob Loveday & Geraint Watkins
This 4th July in London, we’ve got two absolute greats setting the rhythm. Violinist Bob Loveday (Van Morrison and Penguin Café Orchestra) and pianist-singer Geraint Watkins (who’s played with everyone from Nick Lowe to Van Morrison) will be playing a free set from 7.30pm.
Expect swampy rhythm & blues, Cajun waltzes, New Orleans grooves and a few unexpected twists. They’re both legends of the stage – and they know how to raise a room.
Book your table, grab a drink, and let the music carry you all the way to Louisiana – no passport required.

Feast Like You’re in Louisiana
We don’t do fireworks — but we do food. Our 4th of July menu blends Southern comfort with London appetite. That means crawfish boil, grilled oysters, grilled half lobster, burgers, and Louisiana Po’Boys served loud and proud.
Want surf and turf for Independence Day? Why not! Crawfish with andouille, sweetcorn and potatoes? That too. Want to drink something punchy? We’ve got Deep South bourbon, Californian wine, cold IPA beer, and Sazeracs made with a twist.
Whether you’re booking for dinner, drinks or both – come hungry. Leave messy. And come celebrate the 4th July in London like you mean it.
Check out our crawfish boil page for more about how we serve it up, or view our sample menu to plan your feast in advance.
