Live Music

From the home of Louis Armstrong to the heart of Islington, we bring the sound of New Orleans to North London.

Join us every weekend for live music in Angel – with a line-up of jazz, blues, brass bands, and bayou grooves. We have performances at:

  • Friday – Dinner
  • Saturday – Brunch & Dinner
  • Sunday – Brunch

Whether it’s a slow-burning sax solo or a full-on fiddle frenzy, expect real Southern spirit in every set. One of the best pubs for live music in Islington? We think so.

  • Dinner from around 7:30pm
  • Brunch from around 12:30pm

This week’s lineup

W/C 16th June

Friday 20th June – Dinner – Blue Noir

French violin with a Cajun spirit. Sophie Loyer’s alter ego Blue Noir blends zydeco swing, Parisian soul, and the occasional unexpected banger — playful, poetic, and full of life.

Saturday 21st June – Brunch – Joplin Parnell

Back for round two — ragtime rolls, flying fingers, and a weekend wake-up call. Joplin’s brunch sets bring vintage joy to modern hangovers.

Saturday 21st June – Dinner – Jack & Plaq Four

Modern brass meets New Orleans tradition. Expect bold solos, tight rhythms, and all the bounce of Bourbon Street. Jack & Plaq Four bring the Mardi Gras heat.

Sunday 22nd June – Brunch – Al Dunn

Lazy-day jazz, bluesy warmth, and gentle Southern soul. Al Dunn returns solo for a Sunday session that’s all ease and charm.

Ten Bells Rag Band

Payday Fridays just got LOUD.

Last Friday of the Month*
The Ten Bells Rag Band

Angel meets the Bayou.

The Ten Bells Rag Band tear it up every payday Friday with New Orleans brass, second-line struts, and enough bayou energy to rattle the pint glasses. Think Mardi Gras in a pub: horns blazing, beads flying, beer flowing.

It’s the best live music night in London — no contest.

*Next performance is Friday 27th June

Jack Jules & The

Plaquemine Four

1st & 3rd Saturday of the Month*

The Plaquemine Four is less a band, more a New Orleans jam in full swing. Every 1st and 3rd Saturday, a fresh mix of hot young jazzers, surprise guests, and brass-toting regulars blow the roof off with trad standards, funk-inflected grooves, and moments of pure chaos. It’s the kind of night where you come for one song and stay for two sets — no setlist, no guarantees, just the raw joy of live improvisation. Anything could happen, and it usually does.

*Next performance is Sat 21st June
