4th July Seafood Boil Party in Islington
Saturday 4th July, Plaquemine Lock, on the canal in Angel
America turns 250 this year, and won’t let that slide by quietly. As we are a Louisiana joint in Islington the Fourth of July is not a theme for us, but the reason we are here. So this year we are throwing a proper Southern crawfish boil party by the canal, and you are invited.
No bald eagles, no red plastic cups. Just paper-lined tables piled high with crawfish, shrimp, andouille, corn and spuds, boiled in Cajun spice, with lots of hot sauce and bread plus a cold drink sweating in your other hand. This is how Louisiana celebrates, and for one night we are bringing the bayou to N1.
What’s a seafood boil, then?
A seafood boil is the great communal feast of the Louisiana South. Crawfish, shrimp, andouille sausage, corn and potatoes, all boiled in a pot bright orange with Cajun and Creole seasoning, then tipped straight onto the table in front of you. No plates, no cutlery to fuss with, just you, your hands, and a mound of steaming food.
You roll your sleeves up, you get your hands dirty, and you eat until you cannot.
If needs be, we can teach you how to.
The details
£30 per person, which gets you the full boil, tipped onto the table, all in. This is a standing party – fewer chairs, more room, space to stand, eat, drink and dance as the night rolls on.
There will be a special one-night cocktail to mark the occasion, the Buffalo Blood, alongside the full bar, plus live music from Ten Bells Rag Band from 7:30pm
